Generous Joel ....at the expense of Ah Ma and Mummy

I have been giving Joel S$1 as pocket for his recess. On Tuesday, he asked Ah Ma (Grandmother) for extra $1. That evening after bathing, while blowing his hair i asked him what he had for recess. He said he did not eat anything but bought a stapler from the bookshop. He then said that " i don't know why, but the stapler disappeared very fast after i put it in my pencil case." I then looked at him, because if he is telling a lie, he will let out that naughty smile. From his look, I knew that he was telling a lie (he knows that i will scold him because i have been telling him not to give or take any money or things from others). Then told him to tell the truth.

Joel: I gave that stapler to my friend, Russell Wong
Mummy: Why?
Joel: To reward him because he is good
Mummy: doesn't mean that when people are good to you then you must buy something for that someone
Joel: No, he is good because today he sits down and listens to teacher
Mummy: (my eyes open bigger) What?! You mean everytime he is naughty and does not listen to teacher? Then teacher should reward him not you.
Joel: Teacher did reward him but i wanted to reward him also because he is my friend.
Mummy: whatever it is, you should not spend money without thinking.

Ai yo, must now teach him cannot be so generous and cannot buy things for nothing. He has also given a green pen he bought from the bookshop to a classmate because he said he doesn't like green pen. When i asked him why he bought it in the first place...he just look at me...oh dear really must start to do something before he becomes the "santa clause!"

Well, i punished him by not giving him any pocket money for the next 2 days but he said it is alright since he doesn't eat during recess!
